Tarik Qazzaz, LCSW
Tarik began studying psychology early and maintained his interest through over twenty years of working with adults and older adults in community mental health. His experience and training as a social worker have taught him the importance of a holistic approach accounting for emotional, aspirational, economic, relational, and physical health needs. His primary therapy modality has been Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with particular focus on helping individuals become aware of the personal narratives they've developed, and to plan new directions that aren't determined by their stories. In his work with older adults, he emphasizes identifying and prioritizing valued areas of living while navigating change. Tarik tries to make use of his attentiveness, creativity and curiosity to gain an appreciation for a person's experiences and the meanings they've drawn from them and thoughtfully offer a new perspective. Tarik provides individual therapy and cognitive rehabilitation virtually or in person at the downtown Chicago office.
